Difference between Header and Banner

There are many differences between a header and a banner. A header and banner share the similarity that they are both pictures, but they differ in their purpose. A header is for the most part across the top horizontally displaying a picture in the attempt to set the feel for a website. A banner on the other hand can be any shape on any part of the website utilized more for advertisement purposes.

Example of a banner because it is more for advertisement use.
(An example of a header can be seen in my last post.)
